Kate Maltby is a critic, literary historian, and columnist. She contributes a fortnightly column to the i newspaper, alongside a monthly theatre column for The Stage and a monthly theatre essay for Prospect magazine. Her work also appears regularly in publications such as the Financial Times, the Observer, and The Sunday Times, and she is a frequent contributor to the BBC. She is a Trustee and former Chair of the Critics’ Circle, representing UK theatre critics, and is Deputy Chair of the charity Index on Censorship.
In addition, she is a Senior Research Associate at Jesus College, Cambridge and completed her PhD on Elizabeth I at University College London.
