Kanak Kapur grew up in Mumbai and Dubai, and immigrated to the US when she was sixteen. Her short fiction has been published in The New Yorker, The SewaneeReview, The Rumpus, and Black Warrior Review. She holds an MFA in fiction from Vanderbilt University, and has received support for her writing from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference and the University of Southern California. She was recently anOlive B. O’Connor fellow at Colgate University, and will be a Wallace Stegner Fellow at Stanford 2025-2027. Her first novel is forthcoming from Riverhead Books.
