Joseph Massie started his career aged 13, selling bunches of flowers on a market stall in his hometown of Huyton, Merseyside, and by age 21 he was one of the youngest people ever to win a Gold Medal and Best in Show at Chelsea Flower Show. Four more consecutive Chelsea Gold Medals followed, and following stints working in London and New York City Joseph returned to Liverpool to found his own studio. Joseph’s practice today is primarily botanical art and includes couture, sculpture and installations, notably created with flora, and through his studio team the practice also encompasses set design, floral styling and consultancy projects. Notable lectures and exhibitions include the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Dixon Gallery, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Houston Museum of Fine Art, the Boston Museum of Fine Art, Cleveland Museum of Art and New York Botanical Gardens. He is also the Creative Director of Joseph Massie Flowers, a luxury Flower Studio, and the UK School of Floristry.
