Brock McGillis made sports history as the first openly gay man to play professional hockey. When Brock came out publicly, he transformed a personal challenge into a mission of leadership and hope. By standing firm in his identity with unwavering integrity, he showed that honesty and bravery can triumph both on and off the ice. Brock transitioned from hockey player to speaker and advocate. He spearheaded an initiative called Shiftmakers and embarked on a tour rallying people to be “Shiftmakers” in their own communities. In 2023, he founded the Shiftmakers tour, where he went to 100 hockey teams in 100 days across Canada. In 2024-2025 he expanded to 225 teams across North America with plans to continue expansion annually. He lives in Toronto with his husband
