Yiming Lin

Yiming Lin is a food ethnographer behind the highly popular social media platform yiming.cooks, a human interest food account that he started in the summer of 2022 as a means of understanding his personal relationship with food. In less than a year, the account has garnered more than 3 million subscribers with tens of thousands of comments and likes. The account has been featured on CBS This Morning, Buzzfeed, First we feast, World Journal, and Fox News along with a number of other publications.

Yiming graduated with a dual bachelors degree in history and business focusing on commerce and food systems in South Africa. His first foray into food ethnography was working in Cape Town as a consultant at Pioneer foods - the largest fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) in Africa; understanding pan-continental trends in consumer taste. He’s also lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to learn about human-centric design in restaurant technology.

During a brief step away from ethnography, Yiming started his professional career in enterprise sales inside Google Earth - helping cities achieve their carbon reduction and sustainability goals through urban planning and generative AI.
