Sarah has been an award-winning journalist specialising in beauty, health and wellbeing for over 40 years. She has written extensively for national newspapers and magazines, as well as working in television documentaries on topics from the arts to investigations.
Sarah and Jo Fairley came up with the concept of Beauty Bible books in the mid-1990s and have to date written eight best sellers, providing unbiassed advice and the biggest independent product testing results worldwide with the Beauty Bible Awards.
After the millennium, Sarah and Jo launched the website beautybible.com and have kept this up ever since.
In 1994, Sarah was Founder Chair of the Guild of Health Writers, focussing on integrated medicine, and in 1996 set up the Food Labelling Agenda to ensure that all food products were comprehensively labelled – not mandatory at the time.
In 2022, Sarah was Co-Founder of the College of Medicine Beyond Pills Campaign and is now also a Secretariat Member of the Beyond Pills All-Party Parliamentary Group. She contributes to a Dorset-based initiative, aiming to improve conditions and help rehabilitation in prisons.
Sarah lives in West Dorset with her husband Alex Allan and Cassie, an adored and bonkers cockapoo (with a flat coat!) who spends much of her time digging up Sarah’s much-loved garden.
