Micah Hendler

BIO

Micah Hendler is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Jerusalem YouthChorus (JYC), an Israeli-Palestinian music and dialogue project that has captivated audiences on the global stages of TED, America's Got Talent, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and in the pages of The New York Times.Through co-creating music and sharing stories, JYC empowers young singers from East and West Jerusalem to raise their voices for peace, justice, inclusion, and equality—meeting nearly ten hours a week even during times of war. Micah has brought his bridge-building work to depolarization efforts in the United States and around the world, collaborating with organizations including the United Nations, Braver Angels, and the first World Congress on the Social Impact of Music in Toronto. He has degrees in Music and International Studies from Yale and uses Community Singing and Circle Singing to create instant choirs on the spot—even in groups of "non-singers." Selected for Forbes 30 Under 30 for Music in 2017, Micah is a sought-after speaker who has presented his work at TED and the East-West Philosophers' Conference alongside leading Palestinian peacemaker Dr. Sari Nusseibeh. His upcoming book, Impossible Harmony (HarperOne, 2027), offers a blueprint for radical community-building that democracy demands.
