Kate Ballard

Kate was born into a mountain world. A life of open sky’s, valleys and peaks. Her mother, Alison, was the first woman to solo Everest without support or oxygen. Tragically Kate lost her mother at the ripe age of 4. Her father James had promised Alison that no matter what happened, they’d continue to bring up their children with the spirit of adventure. And so he did. Along with her father and elder brother Tom, the family travelled the world in the pursuit of wild places. As Tom reached adulthood he came into his own as an Alpinist. Surpassing all expectations as his mother’s son he soon took the mountain world by hold. Kate and Tom lived free in a world of rock and snow. Until, Tom too, was lost to the elements, in the same mountain range as his mother. History repeating itself. Kate, distraught in grief, fought to survive this terrible turn of fate. Her partner and brother gone. How will she pull herself out from darkness and go back to the mountains alone.
