John E. Moores, PhD is an associate professor at York University and former York Research Chair in Space Exploration—an internationally recognized scientist with more than 100 academic papers in journals including Nature and Science, and a contributor to seven NASA, Canadian, and European space missions. His research group has received NASA’s Group Achievement Award 16 times. He served as science adviser to the president of the Canadian Space Agency from 2022 to 2024. He is a prolific science communicator with nearly 200 media appearances to his name, in The Washington Post, National Geographic, Smithsonian, Slate, on NPR, CBC, Discovery Channel, and Voice of America. He created the podcast Western Worlds, which ran for nine seasons with up to 30,000 weekly listeners. John is currently cohosting a second podcast, Popcorn Science, now in its second season on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
