Jerome Karabel is a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and the author of The Chosen: The Hidden History of Admission and Exclusion at Harvard, Yale, and Princeton (HarperCollins), winner of Outstanding Book of the Year from the American Sociological Association and the National Jewish Book Award. He writes frequently for The New York Times, The New York Review of Books, The Nation, The Los Angeles Times, The Nation and Le Monde Diplomatique, and has appeared on such television and radio shows as NBC’s Today, Nightline, and All Things Considered.
