Geetanjali Shree is an acclaimed Hindi author best known for her novel Tomb of Sand (Ret Samadhi), which became the first South Asian-language work to win the International Booker Prize in 2022. The novel also won the Warwick Prize for Women in Translation and was shortlisted for the Emile Guimet Prize, marking a watershed moment for South Asian literature on the global stage.

She has authored several other groundbreaking novels including, Mai, Hamara Shahar Us Baras (Our City That Year), Tirohit (The Roof Beneath Their Feet), and Khali Jagah (Empty Space), all praised for their lyrical prose, narrative innovation, and deep engagement with social and political themes. Her work has been widely translated into multiple Indian and international languages, making her one of the most important voices in contemporary South Asian literature.
