Carol Bruce is an economics graduate from the University of Cambridge, and creator of the award-winning three-acre garden at Old Bladbean Stud in Kent, where she developed an innovative approach to gardening that fuses natural selection with novel landscape-inspired design techniques.
The garden has appeared twice on BBC Gardeners’ World and features regularly in national magazines, and in 2023 it was voted the Nation’s Favourite Garden in the South East by readers of The English Garden magazine. She opens the garden to visitors fortnightly through the National Garden Scheme during the summer months.
Carol is driven to challenge the way people think about the natural world, and as a passionate advocate of environmentally friendly gardening she has talked about her methods extensively to gardening societies and interest groups since 2012. She has a keen interest in photography and posts daily photographs of the garden for her enthusiastic community of Facebook followers. Carol makes nature-inspired jewellery for a living, which is marketed through her Etsy shop Reweaving the Rainbow, and she spends the rest of her time walking in the woods and tending her garden.
